Watch how USA edge Ghana in FIFA U-17 World Cup

The Black Starlets were edged by a goal to nil by their American counterparts on Monday

Ghana have suffered a 1-0 defeat against the USA on Monday in the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.

Ayo Akinola’s 75th minute goal settled the score and handed the USA all the three points.

The USA started the game very well and dictated the pace, creating some chances in the early minute- the Ghana goalkeeper Danladi passed the early test of the USA by making a brilliant save from Josh Sargent’s header to prevent it from entering the net.

The skipper of the USA Sargent picked up Ferri, but his well-placed ball missed the goal post by few inches.

It took a while for Ghana to warm themselves into the game and when they finally settled they made things difficult for the USA.

Ghana responded to the threats from the USA and a chance fell the way of Sadiq Ibrahim, but his shot was well saved by the American goalie.

Eric Ayiah also had his turn of the opportunities when he was supplied by a ball and after managing to get the ball past the American goalie he and saw the ball cleared away from danger.

After the interval Ghana continued from where they left it off in the first half by pressing for the opener, but they wasted the chances they created in the early minutes- Sadiq Ibrahim had his shot just in front of goal blocked by a defender.

The USA gradually took over play and also made some dangerous incursions in the vital area of Ghana. Ayo Akinola, Sargent and Ferri created much problem for the Ghanaian defence.

A ball in the Ghana area was poorly cleared and when it fell the way of their opponents a pass fetched Akinola and he did so well to outwit his marker before he fired it beyond the reach of Danladi in past in the 75th minute.
